High-value student benefits for FCSE Skopje students

A practical, independently researched guide for students at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FCSE/FINKI), Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

The offers below are provided by third-party companies, not by FCSE or FINKI LIFE. Being an FCSE student makes you a strong candidate, but the provider makes the final eligibility decision. Offers, included features, verification methods, countries and renewal rules can change.

Before applying, prepare:

Only upload documents through the provider's official website. Do not send passwords, an EMBG/personal identification number or unrelated personal information.

1. GitHub Student Developer Pack

Best for: programming assignments, personal projects, portfolios, AI-assisted coding and cloud development.

Verified students receive GitHub Education benefits, including:

The partner catalog changes, so check the Pack after approval rather than relying on an old list posted elsewhere.

Eligibility and application

You must be at least 13, be enrolled in a degree- or diploma-granting program, own a personal GitHub account and provide current proof of student status. GitHub may request an academic email. Accepted proof can include a current student ID, class schedule, transcript or enrollment letter.

  1. Add and verify your FCSE student email on your personal GitHub account, if available.
  2. Open GitHub Education benefits.
  3. Select Start an application and upload a clear, current document if requested.
  4. After approval, activate Copilot and review each Pack offer separately.

Important limitation

Every partner offer has its own duration, renewal and usage terms. Do not activate a time-limited credit until you have a project ready to use it.

2. JetBrains Student Pack

Best for: IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate, PyCharm Professional, CLion, WebStorm, Rider, PhpStorm, DataGrip and other JetBrains desktop tools.

JetBrains offers students free access to its professional development tools for the duration of their studies, subject to periodic renewal. FCSE students can usually verify through one of the methods offered by JetBrains, such as an institutional email, ISIC membership or an already approved GitHub Student Developer Pack.

If direct verification of the FCSE email domain fails, first obtain the GitHub Student Developer Pack and then use Authorize with GitHub in the JetBrains student application.

Important limitation

The educational license is for learning, coursework and non-commercial academic work. Do not use it for paid employment, freelance projects or other commercial development. Use a commercial license where required.

3. Zed Student Plan

Best for: fast coding, pair programming, real-time collaboration and AI-assisted development.

The Zed Student Plan currently includes:

Students must be currently enrolled at an accredited university and at least 18. Zed asks applicants to sign in with a GitHub account that is more than 30 days old and provide a current university email address. After 12 months, the account automatically returns to the Free plan; the offer does not automatically become a paid subscription.

4. Figma for Education

Best for: UI/UX design, mobile and web prototypes, diagrams, presentations, design systems and group critiques.

Verified higher-education students can receive Figma's Education plan with access to the Professional plan. It includes Figma and FigJam collaboration features and professional design tools suitable for coursework and portfolio projects.

How to apply

  1. Create a Figma account.
  2. Use your student email where possible.
  3. Request education verification.
  4. After approval, create or upgrade an Education team.

Important limitation

Approval and included features are controlled by Figma. Check the current Education plan before moving an existing paid team or project.

5. Notion for Education

Best for: lecture notes, project specifications, reading lists, task tracking, internship applications and personal knowledge management.

Eligibility and setup

Notion requires an education institution email and checks whether the institution is recognized in the World Higher Education Database. It does not currently accept a student ID as an alternative for the individual plan.

  1. Sign in to Notion on desktop or the web using your FCSE student email.
  2. Keep the workspace on the Free plan with only one member.
  3. Open Settings → Upgrade plan → Get free education plan.
  4. If the domain is not recognized, contact Notion support and request that the institution's domain be reviewed.

Group option

Verified volunteer student organizations can separately apply for a free multi-member Plus workspace. This is not the same as the individual student plan and requires organizational approval.

6. Microsoft Azure for Students

Best for: deploying APIs, databases, virtual machines, web apps and cloud coursework.

Azure for Students provides eligible students with:

Applicants must be at least 18, attend an accredited degree-granting institution as a full-time student and verify academic status. Only one Azure for Students subscription is allowed per eligible person.

Cost warning

Learn how Azure budgets, quotas and resource deletion work before deploying anything. Remove resources you no longer use. Free credit does not make every service permanently free.

7. Microsoft 365 Education and FCSE services

Best for: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Teams and shared academic files.

Microsoft offers the web-based Office 365 A1 plan free to students with an eligible school email address. Eligibility depends on the institution and Microsoft configuration.

An older official FCSE e-services page documents FCSE student accounts and access to Microsoft online services. Because that faculty notice is from 2011 and service arrangements can change, treat it as evidence of the institutional account system—not a guarantee of the exact current Microsoft plan. First try your current FCSE/UKIM account, then ask FCSE Student Services if access is missing.

8. Miro Education Plan

Best for: architecture diagrams, brainstorming, research planning, retrospectives and team project boards.

Miro offers a free Education plan to approved students at accredited institutions. The current student plan is valid for two years and supports a team of up to 10 members. It includes unlimited active and private boards, custom templates, voting, timers, board backup and high-resolution exports without a watermark.

Applicants provide an educational email and proof of student status. Miro states that accredited institutions outside the United States can qualify. If approved, make sure you switch to the newly created Education team in Miro.

9. AWS Educate

Best for: learning cloud storage, compute, networking and databases without attaching a payment card.

AWS Educate is free and open broadly, including to students. It provides:

AWS Educate should not be confused with a normal paid AWS account. The current public offer focuses on guided learning and labs and does not promise every learner general-purpose AWS promotional credit.

10. Unity Student Plan

Best for: games, AR/VR, simulations, interactive visualization and 3D coursework.

Eligible students aged 16 or older can apply for a free, renewable one-year Unity Student Plan. The current offer includes the Unity Pro Editor, Unity Cloud access, an Odin Inspector and Validator education license and a student asset bundle. Verification is handled through SheerID.

Unity states that projects made with the Student Plan may be commercialized subject to the Unity terms, but you should review the current license terms before releasing a paid product.

11. Autodesk Education Plan

Best for: 3D modeling, CAD, visualization and interdisciplinary projects.

Students enrolled at a qualified accredited institution can apply for free educational access to Autodesk products and services. This may be useful for graphics, HCI, visualization, robotics or engineering collaborations, even though it is less central to most FCSE courses.

Important limitation

Autodesk educational access is strictly for educational purposes. It must not be used for commercial, professional or for-profit work.

12. Tableau Public and academic learning resources

Best for: data visualization, dashboards and public portfolio work.

Tableau's former individual student-license route has shifted to Tableau Desktop: Public Edition, which is free to learners generally and does not require yearly student renewal. Tableau also provides academic learning resources and student community opportunities.

Important limitation

Tableau Public work is published publicly and the Public Edition is not for commercial use. Do not put private coursework data, personal data or confidential research datasets into a public workbook.

13. Google AI student plan (Gemini for Students)

Best for: Gemini AI, study notebooks, research, and AI assistance in Gmail, Docs and other Google apps.

Google offers eligible college students a free 12-month Google AI plan. Students in the U.S. (ages 18–24) may receive Google AI Pro, which includes 4x higher Gemini usage limits, Gemini Spark, Gemini Omni, Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets and Meet, 5 TB of storage and Google Health Premium. Eligible students outside the U.S. may receive Google AI Plus, which includes Gemini Omni, 2x higher Gemini usage limits and 400 GB of storage. Both tiers include new study tools useful for coursework:

Eligibility and application

You must be at least 18, hold a personal Google account and verify current student status, typically through SheerID. The U.S. offer is limited to U.S. residents aged 18–24; students elsewhere receive the AI Plus tier or a shorter trial. Eligibility is re-verified each year to keep access. Accounts issued through a school's Workspace for Education are not accepted.

Important limitation

The plan is free for 12 months only. Depending on the offer, it may convert to a paid subscription or return to the free tier when it ends. To avoid charges, read the offer terms and cancel before renewal if you do not want to pay. The offer and included tiers differ by country, can expire, and verification must be renewed each year.

Extra opportunity: GitHub Campus Experts

Students interested in community leadership can apply to become a GitHub Campus Expert. The program is not a software subscription, but it can provide training and support for building a technical community at the faculty.

Current eligibility includes being at least 18, having used GitHub for at least six months, being a verified GitHub Education student and having more than one year remaining before graduation. GitHub currently opens applications during July.

Verification problems

If a provider does not recognize the FCSE email domain:

  1. confirm that the email is active and verified on the provider account;
  2. use the full official institution name and official FCSE website;
  3. upload a clear, current enrollment document where the provider allows it;
  4. use GitHub Education, ISIC or another supported verification route where offered;
  5. contact the provider's education support rather than creating duplicate accounts;
  6. contact FCSE Student Services only when you need help confirming your institutional account or obtaining an official faculty document.
